An autobiographical show about her journey from the Upper East Side of Manhattan to the old city streets of Cuba, Adelaide is on a mission to re-discover her family’s heritage. As she searches out her deceased father's piano, which now resides in the Bulgarian embassy in Havana, Adelaide chronicles her life growing up in an eccentric family as a half Cuban/half WASP in a colorful home filled with music. In story and song, she shares her personal struggle to realize herself as an artist in a family of artists dogged by mental illness, death and financial ruin amidst a cocoon of privilege and impossible “top drawer” standards. Mestre's extraordinary life makes for a riveting theatrical experience. Her story is one of loss and struggle but also of a love of music and family that with forgiveness and understanding becomes a story of triumph and hope.
